Our History
Cable Car Travel’s first office opened in Dubuque, Iowa in 1974.  It was located at the foot of the Fenelon Place Elevator and that’s where the agency name originated. 
 
Our Platteville office opened in 1976 by Lloyd and Rebecca Peters.  It was located in the mezzanine level at Dick’s Supermarket for ten years and then moved to its present location on Pine Street.  Ownership of the agency transferred to Rebecca Peters in May 2010, with the death of her husband Lloyd. 
 
Our agency is fully accredited with ARC, IATA and CLIA.  We have been a member of the Platteville Chamber of Commerce for 35 years.

Our Agents

Stacey Skinner has been a valuable asset to Cable Car Travel for more than 10 years.  She was born in Montana, but has lived in Platteville for 17 years and has raised four daughters here.  Her favorite destination is Mexico, and often says she’d live there if she could.  She has traveled to Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, Dominican Republic, and Isla Mujeres.  She has also traveled extensively through the U.S.  On her travel wish list is Turkey, Tahiti & Belize.  She's just returned from an in-depth tour of Costa Rica, and is ready to answer all your Costa Rica questions!  She also just returned from  whirlwind agent trips to Cancun and Cabo San Lucas, and after seeing 15 hotels in two days, is more than up-to-date on everything Cancun & Cabo.  Stay tuned...she's headed to St. Lucia in May.

Lynn Conlan has more than 35 years of experience in the travel industry.  She started her agency career at World Wide Travel in Ames Iowa in 1972.  Two years later she moved to Dubuque to open the first Cable Car Travel office, and then moved later to Platteville to open the Platteville office for Lloyd and Becky Peters.  From 1988 to 2008, she managed Cable Car Travel in Prairie du Chien, but when that office closed, moved to the Platteville office.  Her travels have taken her throughout Mexico and the Caribbean, Hawaii, Holland, Russia, England and numerous places in the U.S.  Her wish list includes Italy, Scotland, and Bora Bora.  Lynn has recently traveled to New York City and London and looks forward to helping you with your travel needs.
